The international organic food and drink trade event Nordic Organic Food Fair (NOFF), the largest Scandinavian fair in the industry, took place in Malmö, Sweden, on 17 and 18 November 2021. For the first time at the NOFF, the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) arranged its 90-square-metre stand as part of its international promotional efforts approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The first day saw the Polish national stand opened by Ambassador Joanna Hofman and the KOWR’s Deputy Director General Krzysztof Dec.
Nine Polish organic food and drink companies showcased their export offering, promoting, among other things, healthy snacks and bread mixes, NFC apple and other fruit juices, haskap berry juice and powder, fresh apples, fruit and vegetables, freeze-dried fruit and vegetables, pasteurised (vacuum sealed) vegetables – potatoes, carrots, beetroots – as well as frozen and smoked fish (salmon and trout), canned fish, along with various kinds of honey, and syrups. Samples of products provided by eight of the companies were offered at the informational section of the stand, as part of additional promotion activities organised by the KOWR.
The Polish presence at NOFF in Malmö was arranged in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (ZBH PAIH) in Stockholm. Another fair, Natural Health & Beauty Scandinavia, was held at the same time as NOFF. These two fairs are the most important industry trade events on the Scandinavian market addressed to traders who look for top quality organic products.
Aside from the KOWR stand, NOFF featured five Polish companies promoting themselves together as part of the stand belonging to the Greater Poland region, whereas five other Polish businesses demonstrated their offering on their own. Additionally, eight Polish cosmetic companies were present at Natural Health & Beauty Scandinavia, six of which displayed their products at the stand arranged by ZBH PAIH in Stockholm, while the other two showcased their products on their own. Three Polish businesses demonstrated themselves in the Eco Life Scandinavia section. In total, 30 Polish companies were present at the Malmö fairs.
Two Polish companies present at the KOWR’s stand – Freezco Sp. z o.o. and Bio Poland Sp. z o.o. – were included by the representatives of the Lidl Sweden store chain among six companies that were promising in terms of further cooperation. The “Pitch to the Buyer: Lidl Sweden” event held on the second day of the fair saw both Polish companies present themselves and the product they brought for the competition. During the presentation, they answered the store chain representatives’ questions, and after the public vote and the jury’s final decision, all the companies selected were invited for further cooperation.
