Polish national stand at Internationale Grüne Woche 2024 in Berlin

The next edition of the Internationale Grüne Woche food, agriculture and horticulture fair in Berlin was held  from 19 to 28 January. At this important trade fair for agriculture and food economy with a 98-year tradition, exhibitors from all over the world presented their products – this year about 1,400 exhibitors from 61 countries were present. In addition to the stand organized by the National Support Centre for Agriculture, in accordance with the strategy defined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the promotion of Polish agri-food products on foreign markets, Poland was also represented at the fair by the Marshal Offices of the Lower Silesian, Greater Poland and Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeships, as well as several individual companies exhibiting independently in other sectors.

The Polish stand was officially opened by Czeslaw Siekierski – Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with Leszek Iwaniuk – Deputy Director General of National Support Centre for Agriculture and Dariusz Pawlos – Polish Ambassador to Berlin.

At the national stand organized by the KOWR under the slogan “Polen schmeckt,” more than a dozen Polish companies presented their offerings, including dairy products, fruit and vegetable preserves, including juices, sauces, smoothies, pickles, jams and dried products, fish and fish preserves, sourdough soups, honey, healthy snacks and alcoholic products, including unpasteurized and flavoured beers and liquors.

On the first day of the fair, Minister Siekierski received Cem Ӧzdemir – Germany’s Minister of Food and Agriculture – at the national stand, and then held numerous bilateral talks with EU and non-EU agriculture ministers present at the fair, who were participating in the World Summit of Ministers of Agriculture accompanying the fair.

Also present at the Polish national stand during the first weekend of the fair were representatives of the Rural Housewives’ Circle (KGW) of Szaflary from Małopolskie Voivodeship, who won the final of the eighth edition of the culinary competition for KGWs entitled “Battle of the Regions”, organised in 2023 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Support Centre for Agriculture. The winning team prepared and presented traditional regional dishes.

Each day of the fair, the Polish national stand hosted tastings and culinary demonstrations led by Polish chefs, which introduced visitors to the fair to the flavours of Polish cuisine, as well as culinary tradition and culture.

The event was very popular with visitors.
