Poland had the distinction of being the country of honour at the 8th edition of the FRESKON International Fruit and Vegetable Fair held in Thessaloniki, Greece, from April 11 to 13, 2024.
During this prestigious event, the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR), in partnership with the Polish Embassy in Athens, and the Greek-Polish Chamber of Trade and Investment, organised the Polish Pavilion. This marked the third consecutive year that Poland participated with a dedicated national stand, showcasing the contributions of a dozen Polish fruit and vegetable entrepreneurs.
The official inauguration of the Polish Pavilion was graced by Tomasz Ciodyk, Deputy Director General of the KOWR, and Sławomir Pyl, minister-counselor and Head of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Poland in Athens, along with representatives of the trade fair organiser. The Deputy Director General of the KOWR participated in the opening ceremony of the FRESKON 2024 fair, representing Poland as the country of honour.
FRESKON is esteemed as one of the largest events in the fruit and vegetable industry across the Balkans and South-Eastern Europe, attracting significant attention from companies not only in Europe but also from regions such as the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
The bilateral trade between Poland and Greece has been thriving, evidenced by a 14% increase in agri-food exports from Poland to Greece in 2023 compared to 2022. Specifically, the total value of fruit and vegetable exports reached approximately EUR 47.5 million, constituting 11% of the commodity structure of agri-food exports from Poland to Greece in 2023.
