Another edition of the ISM Middle East International Trade Fair (formerly Yummex), one of the most important exhibition events dedicated to the confectionery industry in the UAE and the Middle East, took place in Dubai, UAE, from 8 to 10 November 2022.
The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) in accordance with the strategy set out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as part of the implementation of activities promoting Polish agri-food products in foreign markets, for the second time organised a Polish national stand at the ISM Middle East fair under the slogan “Poland tastes good.” The ceremonial opening of the stand was performed by: Mr. Jakub Sławek – Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Adrian Gawłowski – Deputy Director of the Export Support Department of the KOWR, and representatives of the UAE from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Al Dahra company. The opening of the stand was also attended by Ms. Katarzyna Rzeźniczek – Counsellor for Agricultural Affairs at the Polish Embassy in Abu Dhabi, a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. On the second day of the fair, Mr. Marcin Wroński – Deputy Director General of the KOWR – visited the Polish stand and met with Polish companies.
Prior to the official start of the fair, an awards ceremony was held. The award for winning first place in the category “The Best of Hard and Soft Candy” was received by the Polish company Me Gusto presenting its offer at the Polish national stand.
At the Polish national stand, products were presented by 8 Polish companies representing the confectionery and bakery sector, including cookies, chocolates, candies, pralines, traditional, vegan and organic fudge, as well as gluten-free confectionery. Visitors to the fair also had the opportunity to taste traditional Polish sweets and confectionery, served by Polish chefs as part of culinary demonstrations and tastings organised by the KOWR at the Polish stand.
Polish promotional activities related to its presence at the fair ended on November 10 with an evening gala to celebrate Poland’s Independence Day, organised by the Polish Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the KOWR.
The market of Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, is very attractive and prospective– for Polish companies in the confectionery and snacks industry. A systematic increase in the export value of Polish products has been observed for several years, which was reflected in the great interest of visitors in Polish products offered by the Polish companies present at the national stand.
