The 27th edition of the Gulfood International Trade Fair, one of the largest and most important food industry events in the Middle East, took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 13 to 17 February 2022.
For the sixth time, the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) – in line with the strategy set out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as part of its activities promoting Polish agri-food products on foreign markets – organised the Polish national stand at the Gulfood fair under the slogan “Poland tastes good”. The ceremonial opening of the booth was performed by: Mr Adrian Gawłowski – Deputy Director of the Export Support Department of KOWR, Ms Katarzyna Rzeźniczek – First Counsellor for Agricultural Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abu Dhabi, as well as – present at the fair – Ms Beata Mazurek – Member of the European Parliament and representatives of the Lublin voivodeship authorities.
The Polish national stand was located in three industry halls: the general food hall World Food (Sheikh Saeed Hall No. 1), where the main stand of KOWR was located, as well as the hall with dairy products (Al Mulaqua Hall No. 2) and the hall with beverages (Za’abeel Hall No. 2). 15 Polish food companies presented their products at the stand in the main hall, with 7 exhibitors in the “milk” hall. There was also a stand with the products of 5 Polish companies in the hall dedicated to beverages. During the Polish appearance at the Gulfood trade fair, the following products were promoted: sweets, honey, hazelnuts, caviar, gluten-free bakery products, spices, cereal breakfast products, coffee and tea, dairy and meat products, probiotic products as well as juices and soft drinks. At the main Polish national stand, visitors could taste traditional Polish dishes served by Polish chefs as part of culinary demonstrations organised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture.
KOWR’s national stand was visited, among others, by the Director of the Gulfood DWTC fair, Mr Mark Napier, and the Director of the Food Trade Control Section in Dubai Municipality, Dr Essam Al Hashimi, who pointed out the high quality of Polish products and emphasized the noticeable growth of Polish agricultural and food exports to the UAE market.
Additionally, the Polish stand hosted meetings with representatives of local institutions as well as companies and trade networks, organised for exhibitors with the support of Ms Katarzyna Rzeźniczek, First Counsellor for Agricultural Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, and Ms Ewa Mezher from the PAIH Foreign Trade Office in Dubai. The purpose of these meetings was to facilitate communication regarding the functioning of Polish companies in the UAE market.
